Laurel Soap

Why is it called laurel soap? And why did it become famous?

Its name comes from its main ingredient: the oil of the fruit of the laurel tree, a long-living tree that grows in the Mediterranean basin, and was considered sacred in civilisations like the Romans and the Assyrians.

It's made by hand using the "cold saponification" method, with olive oil and laurel oil only, with no additives. And here is the secret.. a simple composition, met with a deep effectiveness that the commercial soaps couldn't reach, no matter how varied they were.

It became famous because it was used to cleanse kings, to treat skin diseases, and because after using it the skin needs nothing.. and doesn't complain.

How does it work?

Laurel soap works smartly.

• Laurel oil contains antimicrobial compounds (like lauricin and cineole), which remove only the harmful bacteria and leave the beneficial bacteria, so it keeps the skin's natural balance.
• Olive oil contains squalene, a substance similar to the oils the skin produces, so it moisturises from within, reduces water loss, and prevents the skin from tightening after washing.
• It contains no fragrances, no preservatives, and no excessive foaming.. and this makes it ideal for skin that's tired from too many products.

How to use

1. Wet the soap with lukewarm water
2. Rub it between your hands until a light foam forms
3. Pass the foam over the face or body in circular motions
4. Leave it for 30 seconds (depending on your skin type)
5. Rinse with lukewarm water, and dry gently

Used once or twice a day as needed. And for the best results, follow with a light moisturiser, a natural oil or a gentle cream.
